Welcome to the Startup Support Programme for Social Ventures in Health, Wellbeing and Social Care

Are you an aspiring entrepreneur with a passion for making a positive impact in health, wellbeing, and social care? Look no further! Our comprehensive business incubation support programme is designed just for you.

About the programme

The Business Startup Support Programme is an integral part of the overarching initiative known as the Boosting Life Sciences Social Economy (BLSSE). BLSSE is a collaborative effort led by the London Boroughs of Camden, Hackney, Hammersmith and Fulham, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark, Tower Hamlets and MedCity. Together, these partners are committed to boosting diversity within the rapidly expanding health and life sciences social economy.

Through this programme, we will be providing personalised and comprehensive support to a select cohort of at least 15 registered, early-stage social businesses and entrepreneurs operating within the health, wellbeing, and social care sector from the 7 boroughs of London which are Camden, Hackney, Hammersmith & Fulham, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark, and Tower Hamlets.

What We Offer

Our programme offers a unique blend of group and one-on-one services tailored to meet the diverse needs of our participants. Here’s what you can expect:

Overall, we would expect these enterprises to deliver on one or more of the following priorities:

 Information, Advice, and Guidance (IAG) Support: Receive expert guidance on health and social care issues through Open Days and Induction sessions, totalling 7 hours of support.

 Guided Learning Support: Engage in 21 hours of guided learning covering key business topics essential for success in the sector.

 Personalised Business Coaching: Benefit from 5 hours of one-on-one business coaching to build confidence, establish strong foundations, and stay focused on your goals.

 Networking and Peer Support: Connect with like-minded individuals and industry professionals during a conference event, totalling 4 hours of invaluable networking opportunities.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for this programme, prospective applicants must meet the following criteria:

1 – Reside or work in one of the following seven London boroughs (Camden, Hackney, Hammersmith & Fulham, Islington, Lambeth, Southwark and Tower Hamlets).

2 – Develop and/or run a community or social enterprise in the health, wellbeing and social care sector.

3 – Focus on areas such as improving healthcare provisions, addressing healthcare issues in underserved communities, promoting mental health awareness, fostering healthy living and more.

Our programme primarily targets incorporated early-stage community and social enterprises led by individuals from underrepresented, underserved, and minoritised communities. This includes but is not limited to:

Individuals from low-income households

People from BAME backgrounds

Migrant and refugee communities

Young people and young adults

Older people (60+)

Women

People living with disabilities or neurodiversity
